Preview: New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS)
New Super Mario Bros for Nintendo DS was a first experience of the classic 2D side-scrolling Mario for some gamers. This title bought Mario to more people than ever before and now, Nintendo are attempting to mimic that success with New Super Mario Bros 2...
Much like the original New Super Mario Bros did wonders for the DS' sales figures, Nintendo are hoping the same is about to occur with New Super Mario Bros 2 and the Nintendo 3DS.
New Super Mario Bros 2 is all about the coins and Nintendo aren't afraid to admit that! Coins have always been a major part of Mario games, but never before to this scale. Shiny Golden coins can appear out of anywhere in New Super Mario Bros 2. Mario just can't get enough coins.
Whilst there maybe alot of coins, this is still classic Mario. You still have all of the enemies, including Goombas, Piranha Plants and so on. Along with all of the classic Mario power ups and and a new power up, which will allow Mario to turn anything into golden coins!
From what we have seen of New Super Mario Bros 2 so far, it looks like the new Mario title will have better level designs than ever before, boasting character and well, Mario.
New Super Mario Bros 2 like the Wii game, will allow you to play the whole game with a friend. This is something new compared to the DS title. You can now play through working cooperatively or against a friend.
Along with all the new Mario related features, New Super Mario Bros 2 brings something new to the 3DS and to Nintendo consoles. This particular title will be available to download through the 3DS E-Shop. This will be the first retail title that will be available to download through the E-Shop and will hopefully set the standard for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U games to come.
New Super Mario Bros 2 is looking like an absolutely brilliant addition to the Super Mario series. The game will be available for retail purchase and download on August 17th in Europe and the 19th in North America.
