Preview: Pokemon Black and White 2 (DSi)

Recently Pokémon Black and White 2 were released in Japan,  the games though may stand out to some fans as they are direct sequels to 2010's Pokémon Black and White. I've currently played to the 4th gym and the game has a ton of new features included.

As the games are sequels from Pokémon Black and White, the story takes place 2 years after the events of the first game. The game starts with you meeting your rival and... you guessed it going to get your first Pokémon! Reintroduced are Belle and Cheren (your childhood friends from the previous game) and they teach you the basics as you are on your journey. In the beginning of the journey you will venture through three new towns whilst facing 2 of the 8 gym leaders, then the game takes the player back to the main part of Unova where you ventured last time.

A huge new addition to the game which is noticeable instantly is the inclusion of Kanto, Johto and Hoenn Pokémon. Fans of the series were not happy with the 150 Unova Pokémon and it is great to see Game Freak have taken the time to include some of the more preferred Pokémon into the games storyline.

So what other new features are in the games? Well as the game takes place two years after the previous game, a few of the Gym Leaders have actually changed around which provides a fresh experience for people have played the original. I have to give Game Freak credit, they have made the game easily accessible for new players whilst creating a new experience for people who have played Black and White.

Whilst I can't really review the game into great detail I can say that the game does have a great storyline and the new additions have made the experience feel fresh, even if I have played through the areas once before in the previous game. The game comes to Europe and the USA in Autumn, but if you are thinking of ordering a copy from Japan, do remember that the game is region locked on DSi and 3DS consoles meaning you will have to play it on a DS or DS Lite!
