Review: XStylus Crayon for 3DS and DSi

It's an extremely big year for the Nintendo 3DS, with stellar releases such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi's Mansion 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D already available. Therefore, can you imagine how many hours you will be spending with the small and unpractical 3DS clutched in your palm? This is where the XStylus Crayon from GreenBulb comes in. This innovative new Stylus for Nintendo 3DS will abolish all the common problems of the standard run of the mill Stylus.

The XStylus Crayon is a new innovative take on the classic Stylus and can be used with the Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, DSi and DS Lite. We've been using the XStylus in replacement of the original 3DS Stylus for a little while and we're now able to give our verdict upon how well it performs.

The design of the XStylus initially struck us as exciting and it's quite prominent compared to other Stylus' you'll find on the market. In it's standard compact form, it looks pretty much identical to the standard Stylus, however an exciting design feat. is that it folds out to create a Stylus that is 6% longer than the standard Stylus. Whilst that doesn't sound like a huge amount of added length, it really does make a difference, when clutching the Stylus in your hand.

It's rotation system sees the Stylus rotate out it's inner piece to fold over and clip into place to form a much longer stylus. This folding system also adds quite a decent amount of width to the Stylus, infact, it's 70% wider than the original Stylus. It's ergonomic wide grip really makes the Stylus more comfortable to hold during long play sessions and therefore allows players to continue playing their favourite 3DS games for longer.

What's even better? You won't bee having to carry this one round in your back pocket, as it fits into your 3DS' usual Stylus slot when it's in it's compact position. This meaning that you'll be able to switch this one in as your main Stylus and not notice any difference. It's also super easy to flick the Stylus into it's extended position quite quickly.

Each pack of the XStylus Crayon includes four of these gorgeous little touch pens, coming in the colours: red; green; white and of course, black. There's something to suit everyone's tastes in that little pack and you can always distribute the spare ones out amongst your friends and family.

In conclusion, we've been clutching onto that somewhat miniature original 3DS stylus for so long, we're extremely pleased to see another option come on to the radar. The XStylus Crayon will surely allow you to play longer and achieve an awful lot more. If you plan to get the most out of your 3DS this year, we'd absolutely recommend picking up one of these wonderful little things.
